Rainy Day Grey

saks_collection_beanie_Star_8
Hat / Sunnies / Sweater / Jacket / Skirt / Bag / Boots (old)- Similar here Grey and black are my typical go-tos, especially on a gloomy day! Mixing the slouchy grey sweater, oversized jacket and combat boots with a more structured piece like a pleated pleather skirt was fun and a really easy way to make a lazy look chic(ish). Fun fact about this beanie- I produced it for Saks Fifth Avenue (at work), and I'm suuuuuuper proud to wear it :) . The grey was my favorite (obvs), but it comes in a black and hot pink version too!...

Very Vintage

VINTAGE_SUEDE_SKIRT_4
This is one of my favorite looks of all time because it happens to be more than half vintage! Like we said in our last post, we're trying to extend the life cycles of our garments and invest in pieces that are longer lasting. The skirt was an AMAZING find from Wallflower Boutique during our recent-ish trip to San Francisco.  If you're looking for a great vintage experience, definitely make The Mission district a priority. Also, the bucket bag and three-tone (brass, silver, gold) belt belonged to our Momager! I found similar pre-owned versions of this suede midi here and here, and similar boots here! After brunching in Brooklyn (in this "recycled" getup), Gaby and I stumbled into the Package Free Shop and...

Double-Breasted Velvet

Velvet_double_breasted_4
Mockneck (also similar here) / Similar Jacket (also here) / Overalls (Similar here) / Similar Slides   I LOVE VELVET! Especially vintage velvet. Remember our posts here and here? As mentioned on our instagram, we've been trying to purchase and incorporate much more vintage and secondhand items in our looks in order to support longer life cycles for our garments. I borrowed this blazer from our mom, and by borrowed, I mean permanently 😋. I most likely rolled my eyes 🙄 when she got it years ago, but in my defense, what thirteen year old would truly understand the fabulosity that is this purple velvet double-breasted blazer?! It's not the most functional pieces of outerwear as the buttons take FOREVER to...

Fall Florals

DARK-PRINT-SKIRT-1
Jacket / Sunnies / Shirt / Skirt (Old Reformation)- Similar here and here / Sneaks   There are so many things about this look that I love. First of all, the skirt and tee are both Reformation, which we try and buy whenever we have spare shekels. As our favorite sustainable and socially conscious brand, we do our best to splurge on a few new special pieces whenever possible. Fortunately, their tees are actually incredibly affordable and this skirt was on sale! Second, the skirt print is perfect to dress up or down and we've done both! Following the theme of sustainability, we've been on the hunt for a perfect oversized (pre-loved) denim jacket since I borrowed one from...

Pastel Pointelle

PASTEL_POINTELLE_3
Sunnies / Top / Watch / Bag (old)- Similar here / Nails / Jeans (old)- Similar here / Shoes (on sale) Still very happy about the quantity of pastel on the runways this fashion month. Especially for someone who only dips their pinky toe in when it comes to color, pastels are an easy way to switch up my repertoire (which mainly consists of denim and different shades of black and grey). The fact that these tones are continuing throughout Spring is V exciting! This top was a random purchase during a quick run into HM with a friend. I have severely limited my fast fashion purchases, but slipped up when I saw the feminine pointelle detail mixed...

No. 1 Travel Leggings

TwinseperableXSpanx_Faux_Moto_4
No matter the temperatures outside, I've never chosen to travel in shorts or skirts or dresses. Something about having my bare legs on the seats for hours has always sort of grossed me out. Leggings are usually a safe option, but that raises the question of "are leggings as pants ever really a good idea?". I used to to put very little effort into a flight outfit (no makeup and messy hair) as I am a huge proponent of comfort while traveling, but someone pointed out that they met their ex on a plane and I haven't flown the same way since. 😂 Disclaimer: I do not get dolled up to impress anyone else (ahem...

Wrap Skirt

STRIPE_WRAP_SKIRT_PASTEL_PINK_2
Sunnies / Sweater / Crop Top / Skirt / Watch / Bracelet / Bag- also here / Shoes   We had such an incredible time exploring San Francisco, especially the Wharf and the Palace of the Fine Arts Theatre! Coincidentally, they both were amazing backdrops to shoot one of my favorite Fall looks. I'm coming to realize that blush is appropriate year round, season after season as long as it's complimented by the correct colors. This skirt screams Fall with raw edge and earthy tones....

Stripes on Stripes

SAN_FRANCISCO_STRIPES_1
Sunnies / Shoes / Bag (Vintage Coach)- Options here and here Stripes are fairly innocuous when it comes to prints and patterns and because of this, can be treated like a neutral. They can be mixed with florals, dots, solids, etc. to add more dimension to a look. After finding this easy breezy shirt dress, I decided to mix it with an old sweater (aka an over sized long sleeve tunic)  in a different stripe for an interesting contrast. For this look, I went with black/white and black/ivory on top (similar here), but a colored stripe with white can work too! The dress is a recent purchase from Zara, though it is not available online. I found great striped options from Burberry, Fred Perry...

Plaid Slip Dress

PLAID_SLIP_SAN_FRANCISCO_2
When we went to SF we were hoping to get the full San Francisco treatment, including the year round cool weather. We packed new looks that were too warm to wear in NY and looked forward to getting a head start on shooting fall styles. As fate would have it, our first time in the Golden City was blessed with an off-the-charts heat wave. This plaid slip was the first look we were going to update with some new layers, but it ended up being the perfect choice sans everything but the bralette for 105 degree heat. While this one was from Zara last year, I've linked the bralette and a few great dress options below! Slips: Vince / Adaptation / K/lab / Corey...
