DIY – Make Old Denim New

While different fashion sites claim certain jean styles are "in" or "out", I've always believed that at the end of the day denim is one of the few areas of fashion where trends actually turn at a slowish rate. For example, even if skinny jeans aren't topping the charts in terms of silhouette, they will always sell. Same for boyfriend jeans, and same for flares and culottes. Not all at the same frequency, but denim is so ingrained into our every day lives that people gravitate towards comfort and what fits their body type more often than purchasing a new pair every season. Good denim is not exactly cheap, and so in my opinion , it makes more sense to invest in...

Text Me ;-)

Fashion fans will all agree that Reformation can spin anything into gold. Not kidding. If trends were currency, whatever they touch would equate to bars of pure gold. Exhibit A, B, and C: the front tie dress, the lace up bodysuit, and now, the text tee. A lot of their styles are frequently sold out, and recognizably emulated by countless other retailers. Particularly in the Spring and Summer (although every season is great), they are the most photographed brand on celebrities and style stars everywhere. A quick scroll of their insta will prove it. I'm not entirely sure when the lowercase script text on the left side of the chest thing really started, but I credit Reformation entirely with it's rapid rise to popularity. When they released their "do...

#WCW with Lisette Ffolkes

For the first of (what we hope will be) many Q&A sessions with passionate self-starters and motivators, Twinseperable sat down with Lisette Ffolkes, creator of  NY based jewelry line Jam + Rico to learn about her life and her line.   How long have you been making jewelry? I was inspired by a family friend who designed jewelry when I was a young teenager. I began making my jewelry when I was just 14 and started a small line named "Jewels by Lisette." Although the majority of my business came from friends and family, I also sold jewelry in 2 local Brooklyn businesses; one of which I taught jewelry making classes at when I was 16. What and/or who inspired you to start your own line? I have...

Red White and New

My inner conflict over my love (and/or disdain) for Zara continues. Especially because their semi-annual summer sale is like Hannukkah come early. Timed perfectly for warm summer days and barbecues galore, the exceptionally priced product does not disappoint. If you're looking for something cute and summery, that doesn't include physically wearing an american flag for the 4th...

DISNEY X COACH

Many kids dream of having Disney themed birthdays. If you're Coach, you get a whole Mickey themed collection. In celebration of their 75th year, Coach, in collaboration with Disney, emblazoned the iconic mouse on a range of their leather goods. Mickey is embossed on anything from a keychain to cross body bag, and even studded on a (phenomenal) leather jacket. His Iconic ears stand prominently atop their classic kisslock bag, and if you were lucky enough, you might have been able to snag the large plush bean bag (for the bargain price of $1500) before it sold out. While this is far from the first time a fashion company has teamed with the magical world of Disney, it is definitely our favorite collab...

New Kicks on the Block

I'm a HUGE supporter of white sneaks. Whether you opt for the ever classic Chuck Taylors, widely popular Adidas, or- slightly newer to the sneaker world- Supergas, having a chic pair of white sneakers in your closet is a no-brainer. I'm going to preface my next statement with this: never ever in a million years did I think I'd be writing a fashion post describing velcro as trendy. But alas...

Must Have Mules

Mules of all heights and styles are a great investment for Spring. Consider them the warm-weather equivalent to the perfect bootie for fall/winter. They wouldn't show up for the season year after year if they truly couldn't stand the test of time. I always prefer them with an open toe, but all versions are relevant. The suede pair above (same style as python below) has the best strap placement (yes it's a real thing) and heel of any that I've found...

The Accessories Trend That Will Be Huge

As I take a personal week before diving into a new job, in a newish area of the fashion industry, I have been bingeing on as much art and culture as humanly possible. I've finished two books, seen an incredible exhibit, made ample time to pour over trend notes (new and old), and it's only Wednesday. A favorite personal hobby is scrolling through my Pinterest boards over and over again, marking down overarching themes that are sure to be huge. Though I took the time to pin interesting looks from A/W '16 runway shows, I hadn't really given them the detailed look they deserved until now. When a single trend appears in various runway shows and demographics of the fashion industry, like Alexander Wang  and...

Cargo Vests

Every spring, utility/cargo jackets come back as the easy breezy cover up for the season. Particularly during the beginning transitional weeks when its chillier, and dark colors are still lingering, the neutral green goes with *almost* anything. I found a slouchy cargo vest a few weeks ago, and have already worn it a hundred times. This sleeveless iteration is a great layering piece, especially when you wear it over stripes or a print. Since it JUST started getting warmer, I haven't fully switched over my winter clothes for spring, but I can't wear to wear this vest over my fun florals. See below for different options - The one in my look is from Lou & Grey (center).                       From left to right: The Kooples / Olivia Palermo +...
