Baby Blues

Dress- Harshmans / Sweater (old)- Similar here / Sunnies- Karen Walker / Nail Polish- Essie (Bikini So Teeny) / Shoes- Stuart Weitzman   If millennial pink is a thing, I dub this millennial blue. It's no coincidence that both shades experienced a tandem rise to popularity, as they (or similar tones) were the colors of the year for 2016. I'm not one for monotone outfits, but as I started building the look, I realized just how many baby blues I had. If calm were a color, this would be it. Keep scrolling for my picks and let me know your thoughts on the shade!   1. Reformation / 2. Stuart Weitzman  / 3. Paula Cadermartori / 4. Shinola / 5. Furla...

Pride Roundup

In this week's installation of graphic tees (and some shoes), we're focusing on PRIDE. While many great shirts have come across our screens this Pride Month, we've narrowed down our favorites which all benefit LGBTQ organizations. Scroll below and add any we missed in the comments section! If graphic tees aren't your thing, see what different brands are doing here.   Two Songs // Benefits The Trevor Project   Everlane // Benefits the HRC   Prabal Gurung // Benefits the Anti Violence Project, LGBT Center NYC, and Jeffrey's Fashion Cares.   Marc Jacobs // Benefits New York City's LGBT Community Center   Converse // Benefits LGBTQ youth organizations   Kenneth Cole...

Adidas X Parley X Stella McCartney

The name Parley is not new to us, but if you've never heard of it, you should definitely keep reading. Parley for the Oceans is an environmental organization that raises awareness about the challenges facing oceans today. Adidas has had a partnership with Parley for about two years now and since have taken huge steps in protecting our oceans. They no longer use plastic shopping bags in their stores, and promote cleanup efforts and ocean conservation education among their employees. In early May, Adidas released the first running shoe in their collaboration with Parley. The shoe's upper is made entirely with yarn spun from recycled ocean plastic. Last year alone, Parley pulled 740 tons pollution from the ocean and Adidas is...

Tunesdays with Benjamin Booker

Released June 2, Benjamin Booker’s second album, Witness, packs a major punch. Embracing the idea that the personal is political, he doesn’t waste any time before analyzing his part as a citizen in the current social climate. The title track is “not a praise song; it’s a piano-pounding hymn for Black Lives Matter that has Mr. Booker singing, with furious mockery, ‘See we thought that we saw that he had a gun/Thought that it looked like he started to run.’”  NYT It is extremely evident that Booker has been influenced by punk, rock and blues. The first album he said to have purchased, at around 13, was Elephant by The White Stripes. Their unique use of instruments and non-traditional sounds- reminiscent...

Watch Out with JORD

Moments are bigger than minutes

Jord watches are 30% off for a limited time for Amazon Prime Day!* If that doesn't immediately pique your interest in this watch brand, then keep reading. Neither of us particularly love statement jewelry, and have always preferred simple and timeless pieces we can wear every day. Watches are no different. We were recently introduced to JORD watches (pronounced like yode), and can't get over how beautiful they are. They're unique without being flashy and neutral so they can match almost everything. Since the bands are hand carved wood, no two are alike, and there are so many styles to choose from. Picking just one was incredibly difficult as they are all so gorgeous, and the contrast between...

Cuba Lookbook

Look 1: Every day in Cuba was a scorcher, and this quickly became one of our favorite tops/looks ever. I was actually disappointed that it wasn't warm enough to wear it when we got back to NYC. These shorts are also a warm weather fave because they're high-waisted but also longer in length without being too bermuda-ish. Instead of denim or linen, they're a lightweight crepe which makes them feel a teeny bit nicer and easy to dress up. Even though Tevas are not the most stylish shoe, they are without a doubt the most comfortable shoe for a full day of walking, especially on cobblestone! I was concerned the bag would be too impractical since there is...

#WCW with Hildie Plumpepper

For this month's installation of amazing women who inspire us, we look no further than Hildie Plumpepper, the spunky, sophisticated, silver-haired socialite who sashayed into our hearts through social media. Perhaps it is the combination of my background in art and my love of fashion, but in the same way I used to daydream about Cher Horowitz's closet in Clueless, I currently daydream about drawing my newest wish list item into existence, like a pair of Gucci Princetown loafers, or a Cartier Ballon Bleu watch. Hildie does just that. She is the impeccably adorned creation of illustrator Jill Anthony, with a great political voice to boot...

Statement Tees

Image courtesy of Forbes Much like most areas of the arts, the fashion industry is known to reflect major cultural issues and events. This year has been no exception. From many designers refusing to dress the first lady, to creating charitable tees and even having some walk down major runways (Dior and Prabal to name a few), the statements are loud and clear. When tensions are high, and so many are looking to express themselves through their sartorial selections, it seems almost sneaky to capitalize on an issue and not donate any of the proceeds to that cause, something I made sure to look into. See below for a compilation of our favorite shirts that are good and do good. You should definitely also check...
