Since black and white is a go-to color combination for me, I found myself looking for a great pair of boots to add to my collection. I missed the Chelsea boot trend because I was too picky and never fell in love with a pair in my price range. With combat boots, I was determined not to make the same mistake. I have a great pair of heeled ankle boots, so my next challenge was to find trendy flat ones.
Combat boots are a favorite staple of mine. Unfortunately they often have the potential to look a little too grungy to wear to work or anything slightly above weekend casual. After quite a bit of research to find the perfect pair, I’ve come to the conclusion that one small detail can make or break this boot style…the laces. I’m not an expert in different styles of laces so I don’t even know if they have a different name, but skinnier, round laces as opposed to flat (typical sneaker style) laces make the combat boots classier and maybe even work appropriate (depending where you work, I guess).
I fell in love with a pair from Coach (pictured above), but couldn’t find them anywhere. They were sold out in all Coach stores near me and every department store that originally carried them. Since I was locked in during Blizzard Jonas, I figured why not see if I could track a pair down. After calling five stores, eventually I found an 8.5 in black. Thank you Coach in Boca Town Center Mall!
