After much deliberation, I have finally chosen a favorite from the current trends…button front (or snap front) skirts. With the exception of denim, which I have accepted as more of a way of life than just a fabric, suede is the most important texture of the season. When you mix either with the “it” skirt silhouette, the results are genius.
This iconic style was hugely popular in the seventies and has experienced such a resurgence in recent months, fashion mavens have bought them from the nearest Zaras and Topshops faster than you can say Alexa Chung. (If you have not yet seen her second collection for AG Jeans, I suggest you peruse it here…and be prepared to drool).
The skirt is simple in its design. has a basic a-line shape, and slight alterations to the construction result in a multitude of divine derivatives. Double topstitching, extra seams, patch pockets, and scalloped hems are just a few details that make some of these minis (and midis) stand out. Incredibly versatile, you can wear them with sleeveless turtlenecks and flats, or concert tees and sneaks for totally different vibes.
