Gluten Free Birthday Girl

(The above photo is from doscaminos.com)

It’s not an easy feat to find a restaurant that is able to fit a party of 28 on a Friday night and accommodate a celiac birthday girl. Dos Caminos delivered. Ari, Jake (the third TRIPLET) and I have had our share of memorable birthday parties, but this was something else.

Serving their consistently delicious Mexican food, the wonderful team at Dos Caminos (on Third avenue) made sure I felt special while celebrating! Prior to the big night out, I had spoken to management several times about the large party as well as my extreme sensitivity to cross contamination. As soon as I got downstairs to the larger seating area, I informed my waitress of my celiacs and never once had to worry for the rest of the night. I got to be surrounded by our family of friends and with clearly marked options on the menu, I didn’t feel left out or at a disadvantage.

My table started with the homemade chips and guac and that was just the beginning of our mouthwatering courses. I ordered a frozen margarita and “los enchiladas.” I was brought my dish minus the glutenous ingredients, and nearly licked my plate clean. To top it all off, all three of us were brought surprise, candled desserts. Mine of which was a delicious gluten-free flan. The staff was attentive and the food was remarkable, making 23 a birthday I won’t ever forget.
