International Women’s TunesDay

In honor of today being International Women’s Day, we have gathered a few of our favorite songs about women, by women, empowering women, etc. — feel-good feminist tunes, if you will.

Some songs are classics and some a bit more modern but, nonetheless, “I am woman hear me roar.”

Lily Allen’s ironic and thought provoking number “Hard out Here,” is perhaps one of the more outwardly blatant in it’s message. However, don’t be fooled by Loretta Lynn’s softer, quieter, innocence. Her song “The Pill,” is another sucker punch straight to the patriarchal gut.

Take a listen below!

“Ain’t this my sun? Ain’t this my moon?
Ain’t this my world to be who I choose?”

Here at Twinseperable HQ, we choose to be strong, independent, progressive WOMEN.

Any thoughts? Comment below!

This was the most perfect soundtrack to the readings for my feminist theory class.
