Monday Mantra: Better Together

Better together” was the overarching theme of the past week. However, there were so many inspirational moments from the 2016 Democratic National Convention (several even before Hillary Clinton made history), that today’s post is a collection of our favorite lines from the various eminent speakers (in no particular order).

“Don’t boo. Vote… Democracy isn’t a spectator sport. America isn’t about ‘yes, he will,’ it’s about ‘yes, we can.” President Obama

“Speaking is difficult for me. But come January, I want to say these two words: Madam President.”  Congresswoman Gabby Giffords

“I’m a New Yorker and I know a con when I see one.” Michael Bloomberg

“I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves and I watch my daughters, two beautiful, intelligent black young women, playing with their dogs on the White House lawn.”  First Lady (and irrefutable badass) Michelle Obama

“America, we will rise.”  (Maya Angelou) Senator Cory Booker

“I’m not here to repeal the 2nd Amendment. I’m not here to take away your guns. I just don’t want you to be shot by someone who shouldn’t have a gun in the first place.”  (Future) President Hillary Clinton

“Donald Trump … have you even read the U.S. Constitution? I will gladly lend you my copy… You have sacrificed nothing.” Khizr Khan, an immigrant from Pakistan and father of Capt. Humayun Khan who died at 27, in 2004 while on duty.

“Truth be told, the richest thing about Donald Trump is his hypocrisy.”  Michael Bloomberg

Imagine him in the Oval Office facing a real crisis… A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we should trust with nuclear weapons.” (Future) President Hillary Clinton

“The 21st century is going to be the American century. We lead not only by the example of our power but by the power of our example.– Vice President Joe Biden

“This is not reality television … this is reality.Michael Bloomberg

The issues our country faces are not black and white and cannot be boiled down to 140 characters.First Lady Michelle Obama

Despite your political affiliations, it is clear that their was a drastic difference between the DNC and the RNC. That difference was hope.
