Fortunately, we both work in fields that don’t require a “business casual” dress code. I have never been a fan of suits (blazers with jeans, excluded), so working for a company that allows stylish, casual dress, is a blessing. After attending the Classic East concert, which we expanded upon here, the ultimate test was seeing if I could dress up one of the many rock tees we got, into a work appropriate ensemble.
The Doobie Brothers had a heather grey ground, The Eagles had a powder blue ground, and the event tee was charcoal, so opting for the black tee was the safest option as it is always easier to dress up. Though I LOVE a good and worn hand-me-down concert tee, when trying to elevate something that has graphics, make sure the shirt itself is crisp and clean.
After pairing it with tailored high-waisted shorts from Aritzia, and my favorite low heels, the look totally worked.
Tip- for stiffer, oversized shirts, cuffing the sleeves is an easy way to make it look more polished.
Thoughts? Could you get away with this at work?
