Rainy Day Grey

saks_collection_beanie_Star_8
Hat / Sunnies / Sweater / Jacket / Skirt / Bag / Boots (old)- Similar here Grey and black are my typical go-tos, especially on a gloomy day! Mixing the slouchy grey sweater, oversized jacket and combat boots with a more structured piece like a pleated pleather skirt was fun and a really easy way to make a lazy look chic(ish). Fun fact about this beanie- I produced it for Saks Fifth Avenue (at work), and I'm suuuuuuper proud to wear it :) . The grey was my favorite (obvs), but it comes in a black and hot pink version too!...

Velvet on Velvet

Vintage_Velvet_1
Sunnies / Blouse (also similar here) / Blazer (also here) / Pants / Bag We found these amazing vintage pants when we were rummaging through our mom's closet and they fit so well with this (also vintage, and also velvet) Escada blazer (previously featured here). Velvet was made for this season and the metallic printing matched our new Feed bag perfectly. Part of the Blair Eadie X Feed Collaboration, each purchase provides 50 meals to New York families in need !! Only the bag is still available but similar versions of other pieces are linked above ☝️ .    ...

Fall Florals

DARK-PRINT-SKIRT-1
Jacket / Sunnies / Shirt / Skirt (Old Reformation)- Similar here and here / Sneaks   There are so many things about this look that I love. First of all, the skirt and tee are both Reformation, which we try and buy whenever we have spare shekels. As our favorite sustainable and socially conscious brand, we do our best to splurge on a few new special pieces whenever possible. Fortunately, their tees are actually incredibly affordable and this skirt was on sale! Second, the skirt print is perfect to dress up or down and we've done both! Following the theme of sustainability, we've been on the hunt for a perfect oversized (pre-loved) denim jacket since I borrowed one from...

Plaid Slip Dress

PLAID_SLIP_SAN_FRANCISCO_2
When we went to SF we were hoping to get the full San Francisco treatment, including the year round cool weather. We packed new looks that were too warm to wear in NY and looked forward to getting a head start on shooting fall styles. As fate would have it, our first time in the Golden City was blessed with an off-the-charts heat wave. This plaid slip was the first look we were going to update with some new layers, but it ended up being the perfect choice sans everything but the bralette for 105 degree heat. While this one was from Zara last year, I've linked the bralette and a few great dress options below! Slips: Vince / Adaptation / K/lab / Corey...

Plaid Coatigan

Plaid-Coatigan-2
Whenever I hear the term "coatigan", I immediately feel the urge to shout "come again?", but since it is the most accurate description of this garment, I will refrain. If it wasn't clear from the name, the coatigan is a hybrid between a coat and a cardigan. All the soft and comfy sweater qualities of a cardi combined with the basic dimensions of the coat. While it is in no way a replacement for a coat, a lesson I learned the hard way, it is a very cute layering piece. They come in ALL shapes and colors (solid, and printed), but I think it works best if you find one in a great seasonal plaid! Coatigan - Old (Similar here)/ Sweater- J.Crew /...

Cables and Cold Shoulders

Cold-Shoulder-Cable-Knit-3
I've always been a lover of chunky cable knits. The cold shoulder trend on the other hand, not so much. I try to stay away from any garment that aims to draw that much attention to any one body part. I'm not particularly self conscious of my shoulders, and always considered them to be a fairly innocuous body part, but I'd never quite lost my skepticism of this trend. That is, however, until I tried this specific one. Different aspects of the garment can definitely help or hurt the entire look. For example, if the cold shoulder is too open or too closed. Even the neckline makes a difference. I much prefer this style with a built up neck. Basically, whether this trend works,...

Florals for Fall

fall-florals-1
Spring and Summer seem like the appropriate seasons to wear florals, but that doesn't mean that you should suddenly boycot the print when the leaves change. Personally, we rarely ever wear florals so it's just as likely we'd wear them in spring as we would in winter. If you do subscribe to the notion that flower prints are seasonal, there are a few factors that help bend the rule. The type and color of flowers, as well as the ground shade of the print make this dress totally okay in our book! This ruffle dress is from Zara and is also available in a blouse version. If you are okay with the print for fall/winter, but not with wearing chiffon- another "rule",...

Bell Sleeve Roundup

Last year, I featured this trend, and this year it has a new update. My favorite sweater style right now is the tiered bell sleeve*. Adding volume to sweaters is difficult as they tend to come across as chunky and unflattering depending on the area. However, the feminine ruffles on the sleeve as opposed to the bodice of the sweater are incredibly flattering, and by contrast slimming to the body. Shop my picks below!   Style Mafia   Club Monaco   Olivia Palermo + Chelsea 28   Endless Rose   Co   *Disclaimer- This is not the most practical style to fit under a jacket or coat. It looked like I was wearing thick...

Velvet Blazers

Blazers are perfect for fall temperatures before jackets are truly necessary, and the amount of velvet this season is elevating the layering staple to a more interesting level. They are a favorite of mine to wear over a blouse to the office, or or over a slip top and jeans for going out. Stay tuned for a look featuring this trend, and scroll below for my picks!   Missguided   Mango   Free People Emporio Armani   Johnny Was   Kenzo...
