Earring Edit

Tassel_Earring_Edit
Tassels and fringe have been trending on everything from shoes, to bags, to clothes, to jewelry. Fun textures and bright pops of color are easy ways to update warm weather basics. Having worn the same silver stud earrings every day since I was 17, I was hesitant to try anything more adventurous. Earrings have never been an accessory I felt like experimenting with...

Spring Layers

We've lived in Hell's Kitchen for about two years now and are always pleasantly surprised when we stumble on a new gem. Without a route in mind, we set out to photograph this look, and walked right by (and eventually in) a gorgeous community garden. It was incredibly peaceful and reminded us of our mom's garden back home. We can't wait for the weather to warm up for good, and for the buds to bloom so we can spend more time in this escape from the concrete jungle. Sunnies- Karen Walker / Bag- Rebecca Minkoff / Dress (sample sale)- Reformation (Similar here) / Vest (Old)- Loft (Love this one here) / Boots- Stuart Weitzman  ...

Buffalo Plaid + Faux Fur

I found this buffalo plaid shirt dress on super sale last weekend and I've already worn it three times. The black and grey combo called out to me since those are the core colors in my wardrobe, especially this time of year. It's also softer than jammies and the perfect length for otk boots. Stay tuned because there will 100% be more looks with this gem. Thoughts? Beanie (borrowed because sadly I left mine on a bus)- My fave is Love Your Melon / Sunglasses- Karen Walker / Vest (Old)- Topshop (Similar here) / Shirtdress- & Other Stories (avail. in store) / Leggings- Spanx / Boots- Stuart Weitzman / Bag- Rebecca Minkoff...

Plaid Coatigan

Plaid-Coatigan-2
Whenever I hear the term "coatigan", I immediately feel the urge to shout "come again?", but since it is the most accurate description of this garment, I will refrain. If it wasn't clear from the name, the coatigan is a hybrid between a coat and a cardigan. All the soft and comfy sweater qualities of a cardi combined with the basic dimensions of the coat. While it is in no way a replacement for a coat, a lesson I learned the hard way, it is a very cute layering piece. They come in ALL shapes and colors (solid, and printed), but I think it works best if you find one in a great seasonal plaid! Coatigan - Old (Similar here)/ Sweater- J.Crew /...

New Frayvorite Jeans

I did it. I made my dream jeans without spending a dime. Fortunately I had the perfect pair to begin with, but even if you have to thrift a great, inexpensive pair, this is the easiest update and all you need are a pair of scissors. Read the DIY post here, and note that even though the video suggests using a needle and thread for a few tacks, I didn't reinforce the seams and they're holding up totally fine. Trench- Calvin Klein / Shirt (Old)- Zara (similar here) / Jeans- DIY / Shoes- Sol Sana...

DIY – Make Old Denim New

While different fashion sites claim certain jean styles are "in" or "out", I've always believed that at the end of the day denim is one of the few areas of fashion where trends actually turn at a slowish rate. For example, even if skinny jeans aren't topping the charts in terms of silhouette, they will always sell. Same for boyfriend jeans, and same for flares and culottes. Not all at the same frequency, but denim is so ingrained into our every day lives that people gravitate towards comfort and what fits their body type more often than purchasing a new pair every season. Good denim is not exactly cheap, and so in my opinion , it makes more sense to invest in...
