Kimono Casual

Zara_Kimono_Look_4
Last year, we featured a more authentic kimono here, but have been fawning over any kimono inspired layering pieces all season long. The one pictured is from Zara, but no longer online (possibly still avail. in stores). Two other options are linked below! These J brand jeans are also no longer available, but I found a similar pair on Amazon. Anything that can immediately upgrade my favorite  basics (jeans and a solid tee or tank), with little to no extra effort is a win in my book. It doesn't hurt that these new Jam + Rico pom earrings match SO WELL. Check out our fun earring edit here. Find links to shop below and comment if you're into this trend!   ...

DIY – Make Old Denim New

While different fashion sites claim certain jean styles are "in" or "out", I've always believed that at the end of the day denim is one of the few areas of fashion where trends actually turn at a slowish rate. For example, even if skinny jeans aren't topping the charts in terms of silhouette, they will always sell. Same for boyfriend jeans, and same for flares and culottes. Not all at the same frequency, but denim is so ingrained into our every day lives that people gravitate towards comfort and what fits their body type more often than purchasing a new pair every season. Good denim is not exactly cheap, and so in my opinion , it makes more sense to invest in...

DIY Eugenia Kim and Some Stuff About Loving Yourself

This was supposed to be a post on re-interpreting quite possibly the trendiest hat of the summer. However, with the launch of the People Style Watch #loveyourshape campaign, it quickly turned into something else. Those who know me well know I have always been self-conscious about my body. I've struggled with seeing myself as a healthy woman, and tend to make up reasons to pick on myself that don't actually exist. Although I have recently decided to stop body shaming (because its awful), it is all a learning process and there are still a few things I am trying to work on (mostly mental). Instead of product shots and details only, we decided to shoot the complete pool look (a first for me), and to celebrate...

Reflecting on My Summer Monday This Tunesday

For the past few weeks, all I have wanted to do is to go hiking. I’ve only been a few times, most of which were on family excursions when I was younger, but the trek to the top and the reward once you get there is always unforgettable. In searching for a place to hike that was accessible via public transportation from Manhattan, I came across the many trails right off of the Metro North stop in Cold Spring, New York. I knew that was meant to be my spot since my favorite Billy Joel song, She’s Got a Way, was released on his first major album, Cold Spring Harbor. Although named after a different Cold Spring, I took it as a sign...

Baby Got Back: Conti Wedding Part I

Always a sucker for sentimentality, I decided to design and make our gowns for our cousin's recent wedding in Ojai, CA. I definitely bit off more than I could chew, but finished them just in time! The back is an incredibly sexy and underrated part of a woman's body, so both dresses were (tastefully) backless*. Since the dresses themselves were designed very differently, I wanted to make sure they were the same color. I do tend to brighten up my wardrobe during the warmer seasons, but I will NEVER swear off darks completely. Loving navy for spring and summer, especially for an outdoor venue, I decided to make the gowns solid navy with different embellishments and details. Gaby's gown (right) was inspired by the Miu Miu dress Sienna Miller wore at the Golden Globes,...
