Utility jackets are nothing new to fashion, but if you don’t already have one, you should. While their purpose serves more fashion than function, it is the perfect piece to carry around when the weather fluctuates between 55 and 75 degrees on any given day.
Street style stars and designers have been rocking this look since the military-trend renaissance of the early 2000’s, but I was never entirely sold. A designer label couldn’t distract me from what looked like a frumpy jacket that would most likely go over an even frumpier outfit.
With the incorporation of softer fibers like modal and cupro, these jackets look less harsh and more like a utility sweater…a trend I can totally dig.
Throw it over a dress and heels to make them more casual, or over jeans and a white tee for a more practical look. Tip- If you are trying to avoid the bulky look, go for a utility jacket with flatter pockets.
