Its no secret that during fashion week, trends are born on AND off the runways. If a new style is seen on multiple influencers, its almost a guaranteed hit. The same exact bags and shoes can be seen on everyone but, more often than not, when it comes to actual garments, different designers are worn with the same overarching trends. Especially since many big names work directly with retailers, or in some cases the designers themselves, its rare to see the SAME piece on different bloggers, models, etc. In the age of Instagram and blogging, having a street style star feature a garment is incredibly successful advertising, so it would make sense for the designers to have as many of their pieces snapped as possible instead of focusing on one.
I first noticed the Isabel Marant skirt (below) on Courtney Trop (@Alwaysjudging) and was intrigued by the shiny patent look and bow/wrap effect. Then I saw it again. and again. Collectively, the three influencers featured have over 8.2M instagram followers. With Fwrd regramming @OliviaCulpo, and dozens of other fashion accounts doing the same, this skirt got a looooooot of air time, so to speak.
If you’re in the market for a similar look, but at a lower price point, check out the amazing version by Mango. The shiny finish gives the skirt the same “trench” effect and the buckle, although different from the bow, hits at the same spot!
Would you wear this trend??
